Memory on Hand Overcomes 1,237 Applicants to be Accepted as a Finalist for MassChallenge 2012

Cambridge, MA – Memory on Hand (www.memoryonhand.com) the manufacturer of the MoH Band™, a USB flash drive wristband, graciously accepts their admission as one of this year’s 125 high impact start-ups accepted into MassChallenge’s accelerator program.

MassChallenge is the world’s largest accelerator and startup competition.  This year 1,237 startups applied from 35 states and 36 countries.  The accelerator is a 3 month program designed to empower entrepreneurs and maximize their growth and impact.  MassChallenge is able to deliver on their vision by providing finalists with world-class mentorship, training, free office space, and access to funding, high profile publicity, networking events, and more.  At the completion of the accelerator, finalists will make a final pitch to compete for $1 million in cash prizes.

In the first two years of the program, MassChallenge graduated 236 companies that have raised over $250 Million in outside funding and created over 2,100 jobs.  The program also caught the attention of local, state, and federal officials with Boston’s Mayor, Thomas M. Menino weighing in at the acceptance event, “We are happy to provide a home for this global collaboration and enthusiastically anticipate the growth of these young businesses.”   President Obama also honored MassChallenge stating it is one of the nation’s best organizations for supporting high-growth entrepreneurs.

“Becoming a MassChallenge finalist is a true achievement for two young entrepreneurs working on their first venture,” said Andrew Kitzenberg, President, Memory on Hand. “It validates everything we’ve put into the business!  We’ve grown Memory on Hand since its inception in 2010 and now being accepted as a MassChallenge finalist is a testament to the hard work and commitment we have invested in the Company.  It’s very exciting to be a part of the accelerator as we already know the opportunities provided to us are going to open a lot of doors and bring our business to the next level!”

Memory on Hand was launched in 2010 as the result of a class project which led Founder, Andrew Kitzenberg, to create a more portable and convenient flash drive that he could easily keep track of.  Since then Andrew has partnered with classmate and friend Jeff Brayer, Director of Sales, to develop the business. The company now sells to over 400 accounts in all 50 states with a strong focus in the collegiate market selling primarily to campus bookstores and student centers.  The company is beginning to see growth into national retail chains and currently is looking ahead to the back-to-school buying season.
